The next annual international Abaqus Users’ Conference (AUC), which Dassault Systems will be staging May 19–22 in Newport, Rhode Island, USA, will feature keynote lectures delivered by notables from Boeing Co. and Toyota Motor Corp., along with more than 50 customer presentations. Abaqus is a product suite for unified finite element analysis (FEA) that is part of the Simulia simulation software package produced by Dassault, a US-based world leader in 3D and product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.
The 2008 AUC keynote speakers are Kurt Kuhn, the Boeing structural analysis tools manager, and Hiroo Yamaoka, project general manager in Toyota’s Advanced CAE Division.
“We are extremely pleased that Mr. Kuhn and Mr. Yamaoka will provide insight into how their companies are using realistic simulation to drive innovation,” says Ken Short, vice president for strategy and marketing of the Simulia brand. “The 2008 AUC focuses on best practices for using and managing simulation technology and methods.” Short notes that realistic simulation can help companies lower costs and save time in product development while maximizing product quality.
Hosted by Simulia, the three-day conference portion of the event will feature presentations by 16 technology partners as well as the 50-plus customers, all of whom have used simulation technology to accelerate product research and development. The agenda includes general lectures on new technology and methods for applying unified FEA, multiphysics, and simulation lifecycle management. It also comprises several industry-focused special interest groups.
The conference will be preceded by a full day of advanced seminars providing in-depth instruction on the theory and application of the latest Abaqus capabilities.
During the conference events, engineering experts will give details about their simulation applications, including crashworthiness and safety in the automotive and marine industries, material modelling in biomedical fields, fatigue analysis in automobiles, thermal analysis of disk brakes, analysis of building structures under fire conditions, hydroplaning simulation of tires, nonlinear buckling in energy exploration, and other topics.
Dassault Systems reports that a record number of industry partners are sponsoring this year’s AUC.
